After losing 3 wickets for 12 runs in the chase, the unbroken pair of 91 runs was the fourth wicket. USA captain Sindhu Siharsh remained unbeaten on 74 runs off 71 balls. Still, the US girls couldn't score more than 103 runs after batting 20 overs. Bangladesh went to the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifiers after winning the group by 55 runs.


After Ireland, Scotland, the team of Niger Sultana easily defeated the United States today. After winning the toss and batting in Abu Dhabi, Murshida Khatun's unbeaten 77 off 64 balls and Niger's unbeaten 56 off 40 balls made Bangladesh score 158 runs in the innings. This is Bangladesh's second highest score in T20Is, after 255 against Maldives in 2019.

In the fourth over, Shamima Sultana, who scored 10 runs off 17 balls, was bowled by pacer Snigdha Pal. After that Murshida and Nigar tied the pair, which was not broken even after 20 overs. The pair scored 138 runs off 98 balls. This is also Bangladesh's second highest for any wicket.


Murshida completed his half-century off 40 balls, hitting 9 sixes in the innings. Even though he could not make the innings in the previous two matches, he shone today. Captain Nigar, however, pulled off a great form. This is his second half-century in three matches. The Bangladesh captain needs 39 balls to reach the milestone today. The last ball of the innings was a six with 6 fours.

USA lost the wicket in the first over in the run chase, Snigdha was bowled by veteran spinner Salma Khatun. Disha Dhingra was run out in the fourth over, Anika Kolan was the victim of Nahida Akhtar in the next over. Losing 3 wickets for 12 runs, USA then batted cautiously, but Bangladesh's score remained out of their reach.

Siharsh hit 8 fours in his unbeaten innings of 74 runs. His third wicket partner Lisa Ramjeet played 41 balls en route to an unbeaten innings of 26 runs. Salma gave only 12 runs in 3 overs, Sanjida Akhter gave 18 runs in 4 overs.

Bangladesh will play the second semi-final at Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Stadium on September 23. Their opponents are Group B group runners-up. On paper, there are three teams that are likely to make it—Zimbabwe, Thailand and Papua New Guinea.

The two teams that play in the finals of the tournament will get a chance at the World Cup to be held in South Africa next year.
